Foreign Languages
The core intention of our foreign language’s curriculum is to ensure pupils have a solid foundation before they move to secondary school. Here at Nonsuch, French is the language studied. The key aim is not to develop isolated pockets of knowledge in languages but to develop a web of interrelated knowledge. Therefore, key threads are running through the language’s curriculum. These are: Listening and Speaking (Oracy), Reading and Writing (Literacy), Grammar and exploring stories, rhymes, and poems. By carefully mapping these threads across the units and revisiting them in different units of learning, children will gain knowledge and skills that they can build upon into future units of work.
The school has strong links with one of the local Secondary schools which enables the children to access their language centre.
